Egyptian engineering exports jumped 45% to $ 3 billion from January to November 2021, the highest rate in industry history, from around $ 2.1 billion in the same period. last year, according to the chairman of the Engineering Export Council of Egypt (EECE) Chérif El-Sayyad.
El-Sayyad said exports of the metal trades increased by 51% in November 2021 compared to the same month 2020, reaching $ 354.8 million, from $ 234.9 million, the highest monthly export figure. high since 2009.
Regarding the most important sectors whose exports increased in the first 11 months of 2021, El-Sayyad explained that exports of electrical appliances increased by 41%, cables reached a growth rate of 97%, automotive components increased by 41%, household appliances increased by 48%, and electrical and electronic industries increased by 31%.
The most important countries to which engineering exports have increased are Slovakia, UK, Turkey, France, Germany, Spain, Greece, Russia, Italy, Czech Republic , Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and China. In addition to African countries namely Algeria, Morocco, Libya, Sudan, South Africa, Tunisia and Nigeria.
In addition, ECEE Executive Director May Helmy announced that Europe accounts for 48% of total engineering industry exports, with total exports of $ 1.4 billion, followed by Asia with total exports. of $ 951 million, an increase of 32%. Meanwhile, exports to Africa registered a total of $ 535 million with a growth rate of 18% and exports of engineering products to South America increased by 2%, with a total of $ 59 million, and North America by 0.6%, with a total value of $ 18 million.
She noted: “2021 is an exceptional year for exports of metal trades, as it has reached the highest rates, which prompts us to redouble our efforts in the coming period to increase exports, open up new new export markets and create hundreds of new export opportunities through various activities. of the EEC. These activities include receiving importers missions, participating in international exhibitions, studying the needs of foreign markets, participating in foreign missions and coordinating with all relevant authorities and ministries in this regard.
